Pat and Neville Dickie’s favourite food is Curry – the hotter and spicier the better. The Stoneleigh Brasserie is owned by Simon Uddin, a friend of theirs for over 20 years, and it was in 1998, over a quiet meal in the restaurant that the idea of putting a Jazz trio into the Brasserie emerged.
It was decided that an Indian buffet was just the thing to go with a hot Jazz trio and so it was that on March 2nd 1998 the first Jazz Curry Night took place.
The Jazz Curry Nights are a wonderful mixture of music, food and laughter. The Dickie’s never realised how popular they would become – as soon as dates are advertised, tickets are snapped up.
Simon is always happy to provide an English meal of prawn cocktail and chicken and chips, or a vegetarian curry for anyone who prefers it.
The musicians are hot stuff too, with a varied selection of wind players joining Neville and our excellent drummer, Norman Davey.
